Viktor Frankl was a Viennese psychiatrist who survived four Nazi camps, including Auschwitz, and emerged with logotherapy — the school of psychology built on the conviction that meaning, not pleasure, is the primary human drive. Man's Search for Meaning, written in nine days after liberation, remains one of the most influential books of the 20th century.
